It works. Fitting your feet through the holes, it's snug and your feet stay in.
I bought my first monofin from a organisation which encourages a different way to swim. In Britain. In fact I am on a list to attend a experience session in Bath - sometime next year and I have to pass a series of conditions to be able to swim like a merperson. Of these conditions I might pass Condition 5 of the 6 requizits. The others I shall have to work on.
When I was a lot younger. I often stayed in the sea but didn't get cold - I often baffled my late mother when doing it. I had a good crawl standard and that was good for a whole length of a swimming pool. I did attempt snorkeling some 30 years ago. But never took to it. Now in my early 60's I want to try out something different. And this got my attention. It looks intriguing but it requires, as has been said, a great deal of practice. And I decided to join an local health club - which has a 25 metre pool - but also a shallow pool at one end that has a suitable depth of 1.3 metres. I would also have to master the Dolphin kick as well! Something that I haven't done. But something that I will have to learn. Treading water for one minute is doable but I will have to master that in slightly deeper water in the main pool. Front and back floating is something that I will have to do as well! One step at a time. And as often as possible. I will crack this as reasonably quickly as possible! The other thing is 5 metres underwater! As well. Again doable in the shallow part of the main pool or in the shallow pool of the same place. The trickiest one is the front to back roll. Again, this will require a great deal of practice. Being able to float on your back ! Enables a pause and then breathing normally.
I ordered my Fin Fun monofin - at the end of last week. And to adapt my feet to it. I tried it on and I intend to continue with that practice. I have been reviewing tail skins as well. By mid month of next month I might order one of these. One thing that I will do though is resume swimming again. And I will make some inquiries with Health and Fitness Centres with swimming pools and find out the best one.
I'm torn between three choices - The Black Barracuda tailskin looks interesting, but I like the Celtic one as well! The Australian one is also a possibility as well. It's always the way. One choice to make but so many options. I will decide one out of the three and order it - accordingly. I suspect that it's likely to be some weeks or even up to December, before deciding on it. In the meantime, practice is necessary and must take first priority. Deciding on a tailskin is not yet an immediate choice. The three choices I have - may take up to that time but practice of the other 5 of the 6 main requirements are essential.
I'm probably taking it very realistically as well. But I look for new experiences as well. Curiousity is no negative but a positive - I may have some new things to pursue but I will get there. And research into it is going to help me with this experience.. I mean to try it out - before I am too old and decrepid to do so! Whilst relatively young enough to give it a go
Love my snug monofin that stays on as I swim all day, but also easy to remove in case of an emergency. My tail is a perfect fit and I love the colors. I glide through the water like a dolphin!
Great customer service, reordered a monofin, my last one lasted 10 years no issues.
Probably the best monofin I have had. I got the junior monofin with a limited edition tail and.. let’s just say I’m in love with the tail and monofin overall.
