The material is thin and lightweight however the bottom part got scuffed after 1 use of my kids jumping around the pool, and even got a hole after less than 1 hour of our 1st time use. The company offered fabric tape to fix it, but I wouldn't recommend because I don't want to fix something after 1 use. I want it to last, and these mermaid tails do last. They cannot stand on or jump across the pool floor, otherwise the material gets scuffed easily, wears thin and gets a hole. If the mermaid tail is to be used for pictures it is great, but the bottom part really needs a change- like a lightweight plastic coating to protect it as kids push off from the bottom of a pool.
